Music Production Gone Wrong

From the very beginning of the project, my group and I had a general idea of what kind of music we wanted for our film. We all agreed on both creepy, dark music as well as even some songs written by pop singers whose lyrics matched up to what was happening in our scenes. In fact, we started taking steps towards the music even way back in January. While we still weren't sure what songs exactly we wanted to use, we came up with an idea of a singer whose song we may end up using and DMed her.

When a couple weeks passed by with no response, we took additional steps. First, we DMed that same singer off another group member's account. We then went on to DM yet another singer in hopes that maybe she might reach out to us unlike the previous one. By doing this fairly early, we thought it would give us an advantage and they would get back to us pretty quickly.

Unfortunately, this has not been the case at all. Upon recent checking in, both singers have failed to reach back out to us in any way. This has arose a slight bit of panic, as the project deadline is approaching closer and closer. I am losing hope of getting any responses back with every passing day. However, I am also taking this time to carefully craft backup plans in case we really don't get a response back in time. One of the plans I have is to just use royalty-free music that I can easily access through YouTube. I have actually browsed through some of the options available and have at least three good songs I feel we can use in our film. I also have recently found out about a website called uppbeat.io. Other than the fact that you must create an account in order to hear/download the songs, it's a very easily accessible site. I have played around with it and also discovered a couple good songs on there that we can use. While I feel that the royalty-free songs are good enough and will do for our project, I am still hoping to be able to use a song made by Tate Mcrae or Hailee Steinfeld. I feel like using their songs will really set our project over the top.
