Reflecting on the Project

  1. My product used conventions in multiple ways. For example, just like in the rest of the Post-it commercials, the commercial included someone writing on the Post-it note with a pen. Also, the video included a clip of someone sticking the note to a surface just like many other commercials for this product do. The reason this was included in the video is because my group and I felt like these types of clips show the usefulness of the product in everyday life really well. The commercial when it comes to the product in general represents no specific social group, just anyone who needs sticky notes to write on. However, the message of our specific commercial represents those who are sad and in need of some kindness. It represents the issue of depression/sadness. This is seen when there is a clip of a sad child at the beginning of the commercial, but he gets happy after a Post-it note is given to him.  2. My product engages with the audience by including music right at the beginning of t

My Commercial

I am so happy to finally be done filming this commercial. At the same time, however, I will in fact miss working on it. I found it very fun to work on planning, filming, and editing this project with the rest of my group. While I did run into a couple problems while I was creating the video, I don't feel it was anything that I couldn't handle. I actually thought it was a little fun to try and figure out different solutions for any bumps in the road I came across. I think the reason I loved working on this project is also because I loved the idea of getting to choose what we wanted to do instead of getting it assigned by a teacher. Also, the overall sense of freedom to choose almost whatever you wanted in this project was something I greatly enjoyed. This project allowed me to learn many new things about filmmaking that I wouldn't have otherwise known. I'm glad I get to bring the experience and knowledge I gained from this with me to my next project. Still, I am glad to

Final Editing Touches

Today, 10/13/2021 my group and I were able to make our final touches on the commercial when it came to editing. As for the song to put in the background of the commercial, my group and I were actually to solve the problem. What ended up happening was my group member and I were able to convince the other two group members to use another song. The song that ended up getting used is called "Blitzkrieg Bop" by Ramones. My group member and I were able to convince our other two group members by playing it for them and explaining how we thought it was more upbeat and fitting for our commercial. I like this choice of music because I feel like it belongs in a commercial more compared to the other song. Also, this song doesn't use any inappropriate language like the other song. For example, the previous song said "tequila" which I feel shouldn't be used for a school project. After this final problem was over, the commercial was done. I checked over the rubric again to

Figuring out how to edit

Today, 10/11/2021, we began editing the commercial. I was the one my group decided would be the editor for this project. Therefore, my group sent over the final clips that were going to be used in the commercial. I began by putting together all of the clips into one big video. At first, all of the combined clips ended up lasting longer than 30 seconds. In order to fix this, I sped up some of the clips so that they would take up less time. After fixing a couple clips, the time was cut to 30 seconds. Then, I decided to clean some things up throughout the video. For example, some of the transitions were very choppy and needed to be fixed. I was able to change the transitions on iMovie. By switching the transitions, I made the clips flow into each other nicer. This gave an overall smoother feel to the whole video and made it look more professional and organized. Sadly, there's been another bump in the road in trying to finalize the commercial. At this point, the video is done being e

Filming Blog

Day 2: Today, 10/5/2021 was the second day my group was able to film. We actually should've filmed last week, on 10/1/2021. Unfortunately, there was a code yellow throughout the whole school that stopped us from doing so. Since we weren't allowed to go out of the classrooms, we weren't able to film either and had to postpone it to a later date. Back to today, I wasn't able to be there with my group members to shoot today. As much as I wanted to, I had to stay home because I wasn't feeling well. However, my group was able to overcome this slight challenge. They still got to film the extra shots that we needed to reach 30 seconds for the commercial. The reason we needed extra shots was because of a conversation I had with a friend. She randomly asked how my group was doing with our commercial. During our conversation, she mentioned the many requirements of the rubric. After I was done talking to her, I checked the rubric again, just in case we missed some things the l
