Filming Blog

Day 1: On 9/29/2021 we began filming clips for the first time. We agreed to use my phone because it had the best camera. After this, we decided to go to the courtyard first because there were fewer people there. This way, it would be easier to not get others in our shots. One of the shots we filmed was an over-the-shoulder shot where Nicole, acting as a little girl, opened the lunchbox to reveal the post-it note. We were going to film this shot on the ground in an area in the shade but decided not to. We agreed that by filming her sitting at a table in the sun, we would get better lighting and a nicer, higher angle. Since this was the first shot we filmed, we had to refilm it a couple times until we got the hang of it. By the third try though, we understood how everything was going to work and we knew exactly what to do. For another shot, Violet was going to play a little boy at Nicole's school. We used my oversized green jacket to dress Violet in so she resembled more of a boy.

Storyboard

First Scene:      In the first box, we drew a woman pulling a sticky note from the camera and you can see her write a note and stick it in a lunch box          Second scene:      In the second box, the camera angle is over the shoulder mixed with "gods view" and we see her open the lunch box with the note, the camera doesn't show what the note says but it skips to her reaction to the note which is a smile.          Third Scene:      In the third box, a sad kid is walking and she hands the same note to him which makes him smile as well.          Fourth Scene:      Next, you can see him walking to a board and stick the same note onto it however, the message that is written on it is still unseen by the camera.         Fifth Scene:      Last, the boy walks away from the board and the note is finally revealed with the words "spread joy" hence the same note going around making people smile.

Planning for Post-it commercial

PROPS: Since our group decided on a Post-it Note commercial, we won't need many props, but the things we will need are: sticky notes, a pen, maybe a book, and a lunchbox.      COSTUMES: Our commercial doesn't have anything to do with athletic wear or fancy clothes. We will just need our regular everyday outfits. The commercial won't be focused on an individual at all times so we might have one or two actresses.     SCHEDULE: On 09/23/21: Our group will establish props, costumes, filming location, research, and a backup plan. On 09/27/21: Our group will create our storyboard and discuss it.  On 09/29/21: Our group will create the scenes for our 30-second commercial. On 09/31/21: Our group will edit and do final touches to the commercial.     LOCATION LIST:      One of our locations will be the courtyard. In this location, we will have our actress pull out a Post-it Note out of her lunch box like it is from her mom. We will also have someone hand a note to someone give t

Research Blog: Commercial Conventions

My group and I decided to make our commercial about Post-it Notes. Based on multiple commercials we've seen, one specific clip that was shared between many of the commercials was a wall full of sticky notes. Something else we usually saw was a clip of people writing on the sticky notes and clips of them removing it from the pad.  The people in the commercials are usually wearing casual attire, no specific types of clothes are worn by the actors.  The props shared throughout all of the different commercials include a Post-it notepad, and something used to write on the sticky notes, which most of the time are pens.  The general appearance of the people in the commercials is professional and organized.  The commercials are usually regularly paced, nothing is rushed and everything seems to be in control and organized. This also promotes that customers will be more organized with the help of using Post-its. The commercials usually include the company name, "Post-it", with the

For this project, I decided to pair up with three of my friends, Nicole M., Violet P., and Dara S. Before we paired up, our teachers announced to make sure we group with people we know will be good partners when it comes to getting work done, not solely because those people are our friends. Even with that said, we still knew it was right to pair up with each other. Of course, being friends with one another is an added bonus, but we also are genuinely good group partners. For instance, our relationships with each other allow us to communicate exactly what we need to say without there being any awkwardness or tension. Personally, I find this to be a problem with others that I don't have a close relationship with. This not being a problem for us allows us to communicate all the ideas that we have, making our project the best that it can be. Additionally, we have all have specific strong suits that can be used to make sure each element of the project is the best it can be. For example

Introduction

Hello, my name is Mila Rakic and I am a student attending Fort Lauderdale High School. I am currently 15 years old and in my sophomore year of high school. I decided to take this class because I really enjoy filmmaking for fun. Ever since I was little I've always been fascinated with people filming and editing videos to create amazing finished products. I used to spend a lot of time as a kid on YouTube and on T.V. watching different people, places, and things. This interest in films has only gotten stronger the past year with me being quarantined in my house due to COVID-19. I would watch a lot of YouTube videos on my laptop to cure my boredom, and many of those videos are usually made by kids my age. Having nothing to do anyway, I turned to filming and editing videos of myself as well, creating sort of knock-off YouTube videos. I filmed many things, ranging from daily vlogs, videos of me doing my makeup, videos of my practicing volleyball, and the list goes on and on. Of course,
